PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
This consultancy aims to:
- Support the transition to government-led Child Protection coordination systems
- Strengthen the capacity of the Ministry of Social Welfare
- Prevent child recruitment and other grave violations
- Provide technical leadership for the reintegration of children and women affected by armed conflict
- Promote peacebuilding and sustainable protection systems in North-East Nigeria
The role emphasizes survivor-centred, gender-responsive, and inclusive approaches, ensuring the best interests of every child.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Master’s Degree in Child Protection, Social Work, International Development, Human Rights, or related field
Experience
- 7–10 years of relevant experience in child protection programming
- Proven experience in reintegration of children affected by armed conflict (CAAC)
- Experience with coordination mechanisms (e.g., CP AoR, technical working groups)
- Strong background in capacity building and government system strengthening
- Experience in humanitarian or complex environments
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE)
- Familiarity with Core Commitments for Children (CCCs) and CP Minimum Standards
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills
Language
- Excellent written and spoken English
DESIRABLE
- Experience working in Nigeria
- Previous experience with UNICEF or the UN system
