Job Overview

The Field Officers will support the implementation of a multi-faceted project aimed at improving Routine Immunization coverage across Kebbi State. The project involves deploying Mobile Immunization Teams across 16 Local Government Areas to increase access to life-saving vaccines, especially in underserved communities.

The selected candidates will report to the Senior Field Officer and will be responsible for coordinating field-level activities, supervising immunization teams, and ensuring effective collaboration with local health authorities and community stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Program Coordination and Implementation

  • Oversee project activities within an assigned Local Government Area
  • Serve as the primary liaison between immunization teams, health facilities, and local authorities
  • Ensure effective coordination with LGA Primary Health Care teams and partners

2. Training and Capacity Building

  • Provide training and continuous mentoring to Mobile Immunization Teams
  • Support integrated service delivery and address performance gaps through on-the-job mentoring

3. Supervision and Quality Assurance

  • Develop and implement supportive supervision schedules
  • Conduct routine field supervision using national immunization tools and checklists
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery and accurate reporting

4. Data Management and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate documentation of field activities, including supervision reports and outreach summaries
  • Collaborate with monitoring and evaluation teams to validate and analyze data
  • Prepare weekly and monthly updates highlighting progress, challenges, and solutions

5. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with health facility staff, government stakeholders, and community leaders
  • Support coordination with implementing partners to ensure program alignment and avoid duplication

6. Community Engagement and Demand Generation

  • Work with community structures to improve vaccine uptake
  • Support identification and follow-up of missed children
  • Document vaccine refusals and support mitigation strategies through community engagement

7. Logistics and Supply Monitoring

  • Monitor vaccine and supply stock levels
  • Support timely replenishment and redistribution of commodities

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Public Health or Health Sciences
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in health service delivery, preferably in immunization programs
  • Experience in supportive supervision, mentoring, and field coordination
  • Strong ability to work with local health systems and community stakeholders
  • Excellent documentation, reporting, and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Willingness to travel extensively within Kebbi State
