Young Leaders Network — Call for Citizens Accountability Champions
Young Leaders Network, supported by INED and the National Endowment for Democracy, invites motivated young people to apply for the Citizens Accountability Champions initiative. This programme seeks passionate community actors who care about transparency, good governance and improved public service delivery. It is for those who are ready to learn practical skills and take an active role in monitoring local projects.
Who may apply
– Age: 18–35 years.
– Active in governance, civic engagement or community development at the local level.
– Demonstrated interest in accountability, budget tracking and citizen participation.
– Applicants must be resident or professionally active in Bauchi, Nasarawa or Plateau states.
Selection criteria
– Verifiable participation in governance or civic activities.
– Clear commitment to accountability and improved public service delivery.
– Ability to monitor public projects and accurately report findings.
– Basic literacy and ability to use a mobile phone for data collection and communication.
– Demonstrated leadership potential and local influence within community networks.
Programme benefits and opportunities
– Practical training in public budgeting, accountability mechanisms and project monitoring.
– Hands‑on experience using the Citizen‑Nominated Project Dashboard to track projects and document impact.
– Mentorship and capacity building to strengthen advocacy and civic engagement skills.
– Designation as a Citizen Accountability Champion with opportunities to influence local decision‑making. You will also be able to amplify community priorities.
Expectations of selected champions
– Participate actively in training and monitoring activities.
– Conduct regular project tracking and submit timely, evidence‑based reports.
– Engage constructively with local stakeholders, including service providers and public officials.
– Share learning and promote citizen participation within your community.
