NCA is currently recruiting qualified candidates for the position of WASH Information Management (IM)/GIS Officer in Borno State, Nigeria.

Job Title: WASH Information Management/GIS Officer

Location: Maiduguri, Borno State
Experience Required: 4 – 7 Years

Job Overview

The WASH IM/GIS Officer will support the effective management of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) data and geographic information systems in North-East Nigeria. The role involves working closely with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation (FMWRS), Borno State Government, WASH sector partners, and humanitarian stakeholders.

The officer will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, visualizing, and disseminating high-quality data to strengthen coordination, planning, monitoring, and reporting—especially in cholera preparedness and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the collection, validation, analysis, and dissemination of WASH data
• Maintain and update information systems, databases, dashboards, and GIS platforms
• Produce maps, dashboards, infographics, and situation reports
• Manage digital tools such as ActivityInfo, Power BI, ArcGIS, QGIS, and HumanitarianResponse platforms
• Conduct data quality assurance and verification processes
• Analyze WASH trends to support emergency response and resilience-building
• Support cholera preparedness through hotspot mapping and reporting
• Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, UN bodies, and partners
• Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders, donors, and coordination meetings
• Support needs assessments, surveys, and evaluations
• Provide technical support on data tools and GIS applications
• Maintain proper documentation and data filing systems

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, GIS, Computer Science, Statistics, Geography, Data Science, or related field
• Relevant certifications in GIS or humanitarian information management are an advantage

Experience:

• 4 – 7 years of experience in humanitarian information management
• Experience with WASH sector coordination and emergency response
• Familiarity with government and humanitarian coordination systems

Skills:

• Strong data analysis and visualization skills
• Proficiency in GIS tools and data platforms
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Language:

• Fluency in English (required)
• Knowledge of Hausa or other local languages is an added advantage
