MSF is currently recruiting for the position of Obstetrician Gynaecologist in Zamfara State, Nigeria.
Job Title: Obstetrician Gynaecologist
Location: Zurmi, Zamfara State
Job Type: Fixed-Term Contract (6 Months, Level 9)

Main Purpose of the Role
The Obstetrician Gynaecologist will be responsible for delivering high-quality reproductive healthcare services, including obstetric and gynaecological procedures. The role focuses on improving maternal and neonatal health outcomes by reducing risks associated with pregnancy, childbirth, and postnatal care, in line with MSF medical protocols and global standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological care including prevention, diagnosis, and treatment
- Perform caesarean sections and manage obstetric emergencies such as eclampsia, haemorrhage, and sepsis
- Lead clinical rounds in maternity wards and ensure continuity of care
- Supervise labour monitoring using partographs and ensure early detection of complications
- Support newborn resuscitation and coordinate with neonatology teams
- Ensure strict adherence to MSF and national clinical protocols
- Conduct maternal death reviews and implement quality improvement strategies
- Train and mentor medical staff through structured capacity-building programs
- Oversee the use of medical equipment, drugs, and supplies in coordination with pharmacy and logistics teams
- Collaborate with Ministry of Health partners and strengthen referral systems
Requirements
Education:
- Specialist diploma in Gynaecology
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years certified experience in gynaecology
- Previous experience with MSF or NGOs is an added advantage
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong clinical and surgical expertise
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel)
- Excellent teamwork, flexibility, and stress management
- High level of commitment and professionalism
Working Conditions
- 208 working hours per month
- Salary paid based on MSF national salary scale (daily rate)
