Position: Regional Technical Advisor – West Africa

Role Overview
The Regional Technical Advisor ensures that WaterAid’s water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programmes in West Africa meet high technical standards and best practices. The role supports country teams to improve technical quality and sustainability of services, and leads regional technical coordination.
Key Responsibilities
🔹 Review and strengthen programme approaches for water supply, sanitation, hygiene and related technical work
🔹 Support country technical staff and partners to improve service delivery quality
🔹 Promote use of WaterAid’s quality and thematic standards across programmes
🔹 Lead on climate-resilient WASH technical support and integration
🔹 Monitor programme implementation and provide technical guidance
🔹 Facilitate capacity building, innovation and knowledge sharing across the region
🔹 Represent the region technically in meetings, partnerships and advocacy efforts
🔹 Prepare guidance materials, policy briefs and technical documentation
🎓 Qualifications & Experience Required
🎓 Master’s degree in engineering, water/environmental studies, WASH discipline or related field
📊 At least 10 years of relevant experience in WASH and technical programme leadership
🛠️ Experience in designing, implementing and monitoring WASH and climate-related programmes
🗣️ Strong communication skills in English (French is also an asset)
📈 Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, build partnerships, and influence technical practices
