JOB SUMMARY

The Solar and UPS Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, reconditioning and installing UPS, AVR and solar power systems.

The role also involves electrical project support, site audits, preventive maintenance, customer support and technical reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, recondition and install low and high voltage UPS systems.
  2. Review electrical drawings and prepare scopes of work for electrical projects.
  3. Manage electrical project interfaces with customers and provide detailed reports on UPS and AVR status.
  4. Provide technical recommendations on UPS and electrical systems.
  5. Conduct preventive maintenance on UPS and AVR systems.
  6. Attend meetings with clients and sales teams and provide corrective solutions to site issues.
  7. Install surge protection systems including Class 1, Class 2 and Class 1 and 2 compatible systems.
  8. Install earthing and lightning arrestor systems.
  9. Install solar power systems.
  10. Evaluate projects to ensure compliance with viability and building criteria.
  11. Respond promptly to client inquiries and complaints.
  12. Conduct engineering site audits and collect structural and electrical information for residential and commercial solar system design.
  13. Provide on the job training to electricians and other assigned trades.
  14. Develop and submit site reports relating to UPS and AVR systems.
  15. Operate electrical diagnostic equipment and analyzers and provide recommendations based on equipment diagnostics.
  16. Comply with company policies, safety standards, procedures and applicable electrical requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. HND, B.Tech, B.Sc or B.Eng in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Physics Electronics.
  2. 6 to 8 years of experience in a similar role.
  3. Age should not be more than 35 years.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Electrical and UPS technical competence.
  2. UPS and AVR troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
  3. Electrical UPS OEM training is desirable, including Kstar, Liebert, Emerson, APC, MGE, Eaton, Powerware, Siemens or ABB UPS.
  4. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  5. Knowledge of single line electrical drawings.
  6. Knowledge of commercial power supply, UPS and generator interfaces.
  7. Knowledge of electrical diagnostic equipment and analyzers.
  8. Understanding of safety requirements when working with low and high voltage systems.
  9. Familiarity with electrical codes and their site implications.
  10. Ability to work independently and exercise sound technical judgement.
  11. Ability to improvise and identify practical solutions when standard solutions are unavailable.
  12. Willingness and ability to work at height.
  13. Ability to provide technical training and guidance to electricians and other trades.
  14. Strong commitment to safety policies, practices and procedures.
