Première Urgence Internationale (PUI), a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and non-religious international aid organization, is currently recruiting for the position of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Supervisor in Katsina State. Since beginning operations in Nigeria in 2016, PUI has steadily expanded its humanitarian interventions across conflict-affected regions, delivering critical support services to vulnerable populations.
The MHPSS Supervisor will work under the technical guidance of the MHPSS Advisor and the administrative supervision of the Field Coordinator/Head of Base. The role is primarily responsible for overseeing the implementation of all MHPSS activities at the base level, ensuring that services are delivered in line with PUI standards and international guidelines.
This position involves leading the planning and execution of psychosocial support activities, supervising field staff, and ensuring the quality of both clinical and non-clinical interventions. The supervisor will manage Psychosocial Workers (PSWs), provide technical coaching, and conduct regular capacity-building sessions, including training on Psychological First Aid (PFA) and referral pathways. Additionally, the role includes facilitating case management meetings, supporting staff wellbeing, and contributing to recruitment and performance evaluations.
The MHPSS Supervisor will also play a key role in monitoring and reporting. Responsibilities include overseeing data collection and entry, ensuring confidentiality, tracking program indicators, and compiling detailed monthly reports on program performance. The role requires active coordination with internal departments and external stakeholders, including participation in MHPSS working groups, collaboration with community leaders, NGOs, and Ministry of Health representatives.
Furthermore, the supervisor will ensure effective integration of MHPSS services across sectors such as Protection, Health, Nutrition, and Livelihoods, strengthening a holistic response to beneficiaries’ needs.
