The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the commencement of a nationwide Voter Revalidation Exercise
The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the commencement of a nationwide Voter Revalidation Exercise scheduled to begin on April 13, 2026. This important initiative is aimed at cleaning up the voter register, ensuring accuracy, and safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral process.
The exercise specifically targets Nigerians who registered between 2011 and 2024. If you fall within this category, you are strongly encouraged to participate in order to confirm and secure your voter records. It is important to note that this is not a new voter registration exercise, but rather a verification and update process designed to ensure that all existing voter information is correct and up to date.
Eligible voters can complete the revalidation process either online or in person. For those who prefer the online option, the process can be done conveniently through the official portal. Alternatively, individuals can visit any designated INEC centre across the country to complete the exercise physically. All centres will operate daily, including weekends, between 9AM and 3PM to ensure accessibility for all.
The commission has emphasized that failure to revalidate your voter record may result in the risk of losing your voting eligibility. This means that individuals who do not participate may encounter issues such as missing names from the voter register on election day, which could prevent them from exercising their civic rights.
This exercise is part of INEC’s broader commitment to strengthening electoral transparency, improving data accuracy, and ensuring that every eligible Nigerian has a fair opportunity to vote. Citizens are therefore advised not to delay, but to take prompt action to avoid last-minute complications.
Start Date: April 13, 2026
