Médecins du Monde, also known as Doctors of the World, has announced an opening for the role of Medical Supervisor in Damboa, Borno State. The organization is widely recognized for delivering emergency and long-term medical care to vulnerable populations while advocating for equitable access to healthcare globally.
The Medical Supervisor will work under the technical supervision of the Program Manager and the overall management of the Field Coordinator. The role is central to ensuring effective program implementation, quality healthcare delivery, and strong coordination with stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health and partner organizations.
Key responsibilities include overseeing program implementation across mobile clinics and Ministry of Health-supported facilities in Damboa, ensuring compliance with grant guidelines, and developing workplans in collaboration with the Program Manager. The successful candidate will also supervise partners and sub-grantees, provide technical and operational support to healthcare staff, and contribute to strategies aimed at improving service delivery in supported health facilities.
In addition, the role involves conducting regular supervision visits, organizing monthly reviews with technical teams and government representatives, and developing action plans to address identified challenges. Facility support is another major component, including ensuring provision of essential equipment, supplies, and drugs, as well as organizing capacity-building initiatives such as training, mentorship, and on-the-job learning for healthcare workers.
The Medical Supervisor will also be responsible for data collection and analysis, ensuring accurate reporting of health indicators, monitoring drug usage, and promptly reporting any unusual trends or disease outbreaks. Reporting duties include preparing weekly activity reports, contributing to monthly medical and epidemiological reports, and supporting documentation processes in collaboration with the MEAL team.
Strong stakeholder engagement is required, including maintaining relationships with community leaders, coordinating with other NGOs, UN agencies, and government bodies, and supporting accountability mechanisms within communities.
