The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially launched the One Humanitarian – One Poverty Response System (OHOPRS), a landmark initiative aimed at lifting millions of Nigerians out of poverty. The program aligns with the Presidential mandate to reduce poverty for 50 million Nigerians through a unified, data-driven approach that integrates humanitarian relief, social protection, and long-term development.
Key Features of OHOPRS:
- Unified National Register – tracks beneficiaries from vulnerability to self-reliance.
- Structured Poverty Exit Pathway – ensures targeted support and sustainable growth.
- Poverty Intelligence Lab – provides real-time analytics for evidence-based decision-making.
- Whole-of-Government Approach – coordinates federal agencies, UN bodies, development partners, and civil society for maximum impact.
At the launch in Abuja, the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, emphasized that OHOPRS is built on the principle of “One System, One Register, One Pathway”, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and accountability in reaching vulnerable populations.
The initiative also aims to consolidate existing social protection and humanitarian programs under a single framework, enabling better coordination, resource optimization, and measurable results in poverty reduction.
OHOPRS represents a major step toward building a transparent, efficient, and results-driven system to transform the lives of millions of Nigerians from vulnerability to prosperity.
