JOB TITLE: Operations (EORE QA/QC) Senior Assistant

ROLE OBJECTIVES

The successful candidate will work under the overall supervision of the Operations Officer and support monitoring, evaluation, quality assurance and coordination of Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) and Victim Assistance (VA) activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support monitoring, evaluation and quality assurance of EORE and victim assistance activities conducted by implementing partners, including frequent field visits.
  2. Assist with planning and designing EORE and VA activities.
  3. Liaise with partners, government authorities, military and security officials on humanitarian mine action coordination and monitoring.
  4. Conduct local-level needs assessments and interviews with relevant stakeholders.
  5. Support training on EORE, VA and Non-Technical Survey (NTS) for national authorities, teachers, community volunteers, humanitarian workers and CSOs.
  6. Assist with accreditation of trained actors and organizations.
  7. Map existing EORE capacity, activities and materials while identifying gaps and opportunities.
  8. Support quality control of EORE curricula and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials.
  9. Engage affected communities and stakeholders and organize relevant meetings.
  10. Prepare reports and provide on-the-job training and technical support to implementing partners.
  11. Participate in Protection Sector, Mine Action Sub-Working Group and other relevant coordination meetings.
  12. Receive and review implementing partner reports and support information management, data tracking and progress reporting.
  13. Train implementing partners on the use of IMSMA accident, victim and assistance reports to identify victims’ needs and monitor humanitarian mine action assistance.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or senior management.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should have either:

  1. High School Diploma with 6 years of relevant experience; OR
  2. First-level University Degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) with 3 years of relevant experience.

Relevant experience includes:

  1. Experience supporting awareness and education campaigns.
  2. Experience in humanitarian mine action, particularly EORE and VA, with a recognized organization.
  3. Experience in quality assurance.
  4. Experience in training and meeting facilitation.
  5. Experience in community-based education, public information campaigns and communications.
  6. Experience in Non-Technical Survey is an advantage.
  7. Knowledge of the UN system and relevant client procedures is desirable.
  8. Fluency in English and Hausa is required.
  9. Kanuri or another language spoken in Northeast Nigeria is an advantage.
