TUBERCULOSIS TECHNICAL ADVISOR AT ARFH
The Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH), a leading Nigerian non-governmental and not-for-profit organization established in 1989, is recruiting qualified professionals for the position below.
JOB TITLE: Tuberculosis Technical Advisor
LOCATION: Sokoto and Kebbi States
ABOUT ARFH
ARFH works to improve the quality of life of vulnerable and disadvantaged populations across Nigeria through programmes covering reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health, nutrition, family planning, HIV, tuberculosis, malaria and other health-system strengthening interventions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will:
- Provide technical leadership on TB, including drug-resistant TB, TB-HIV case finding, diagnosis, treatment and prevention in line with national and WHO guidelines.
- Support the adoption of new TB diagnostics, medicines and treatment approaches, including GeneXpert, shorter MDR-TB regimens and TB Preventive Therapy.
- Mentor, supervise and provide technical support to project staff, healthcare workers, government counterparts and CSOs.
- Support active case finding, contact tracing and community-based DOTS.
- Contribute to annual work plans, technical strategies, project reports, donor deliverables, proposals and fundraising concepts.
- Support the development and review of TB policies, guidelines, SOPs and implementation strategies.
- Strengthen TB/HIV collaborative activities, including HIV testing for TB clients, ART initiation, CPT, TB screening among PLHIV and TB Preventive Therapy.
- Support the use of CAD-enabled Portable Digital Chest X-Ray and GeneXpert technology to improve TB diagnosis.
- Strengthen TB infection prevention and control, pharmacovigilance, treatment adherence and community-based care.
- Work with National and State TB Programmes, Ministries of Health, donors and technical partners to coordinate TB interventions.
- Support data quality reviews, cohort analysis, M&E systems and project performance monitoring using relevant reporting platforms, including RADET and DHIS.
- Prepare technical reports, briefs, lessons learned and best-practice documentation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must have:
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).
- Master’s Degree in Public Health or a related field.
- 7–10 years of relevant experience in TB and HIV programmes.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Self-motivation, initiative, emotional intelligence and commitment to national guidelines and organizational policies.
