About the Consultancy
Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI), in partnership with FactCheck Africa, invites qualified researchers to apply for a short-term consultancy to conduct a Pre-Election Digital Threat Assessment ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections.

This consultancy will generate critical evidence on AI-driven disinformation, deepfake threats, and misinformation patterns across Nigeria, forming the analytical foundation for the consortium’s prebunking and counter-disinformation strategy.

Scope of Work
The selected consultant will produce a comprehensive report titled:
“Prevalent Misinformation Patterns & Digital Hotspots in Nigeria 2027”

The report will include:
• Mapping of AI-driven disinformation hotspots across six states: Lagos, Rivers, Abia, Kano, Borno, and Kwara
• Analysis of platform-based and linguistic threat patterns (Facebook, X, TikTok, WhatsApp, Telegram, YouTube, Instagram)
• Identification of coordinated inauthentic behaviour (CIB) and narrative archetypes
• Assessment of emerging deepfake and synthetic media threats
• Focused analysis on impacts on marginalized groups (women, persons with disabilities, IDPs, and low-resource language communities)
• Actionable, policy-relevant recommendations for prebunking and response strategies

Deliverables
• Draft outline and mid-term presentation
• Full draft report with all analytical sections
• Final consolidated report with incorporated feedback
• Two-page plain-language summary for public dissemination

Requirements
• Advanced degree in political science, communication, data science, public policy, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in disinformation research, OSINT, election monitoring, or political communication
• Strong knowledge of Nigeria’s political and digital information ecosystem
• Familiarity with Social Network Analysis (SNA) tools and Actor-Network Theory (ANT)
• Proven experience producing policy-oriented, accessible research reports
• Excellent analytical writing and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with fact-checking organizations or media integrity initiatives
• Understanding of AI-driven disinformation and its societal impacts
• Experience working with marginalized or vulnerable populations
