Call for Bids: Technology Consultancy — Nigeria 2027. This position is open as a remote job opportunity.

Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI), in partnership with FactCheck Africa (FCA), invites qualified technology consultants, firms, and technical teams to submit proposals for a high-impact consultancy aimed at strengthening digital integrity and inclusive civic participation ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

This consultancy forms part of the “Strengthening Digital Integrity and Inclusive Participation for Nigeria 2027” project, supported by the Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI) and CIVICUS. The project focuses on countering misinformation, enhancing electoral transparency, and promoting citizen engagement across key Nigerian states.

Scope of Work

The consultancy is divided into four distinct but interrelated technical lots. Applicants may bid for one, multiple, or all lots depending on their expertise and capacity:

  1. MyAIFactChecker Platform Scaling
    Enhance and optimise backend infrastructure, improve performance, integrate APIs, and ensure scalability for peak election demand.
  2. Multilingual NLP Model Fine-Tuning
    Develop and fine-tune AI models capable of detecting misinformation in Nigerian languages including Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, and Pidgin, with potential extension to Kanuri and Fulfulde.
  3. Chrome Extension Development
    Design and deploy a browser extension enabling real-time claim verification directly from web pages and social media platforms.
  4. EVIT Platform Upgrade & Public Accountability Dashboard
    Upgrade the Election Violence Incidence Tracker (EVIT) and build a public-facing dashboard for real-time reporting and visualisation of verified electoral incidents.

Consultancy Details

• Start Date: July 13, 2026
• Duration: Three (3) months (with possible extension through the election period)
• Location: Fully remote (Nigeria-based applicants preferred)
• Deadline for Submission: July 10, 2026 (11:59 PM WAT)

Applicants must demonstrate at least five (5) years of relevant experience in software development, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related technical fields, along with a proven track record of delivering production-ready digital solutions.

Key Requirements

• Technical Proposal (methodology, workplan, integration approach, risk mitigation)
• Financial Proposal (detailed cost breakdown in NGN)
• Portfolio of previous work (live links, repositories, or case studies)
• CV(s) of team members
• Two professional references

All deliverables must be production-ready, scalable, secure, and compliant with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023. Solutions should prioritise accessibility, user safety, and multilingual inclusivity.
