The internship positions are remote and open to candidates based in Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria or Senegal. The positions are full‑time or part‑time. Selected interns will work closely with the MERL Specialist and Data Systems Analyst to support the monitoring, evaluation, research and learning functions of the program. In addition, many remote jobs for Africans require self-motivation and discipline, which this internship fosters.

The main responsibilities of the MERL Interns include data management, analysis, and quality assurance across multiple datasets. They must ensure that data is accurate, consistent, and usable for decision making. Interns will organize and analyze data using Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools. Moreover, they will identify trends and gaps and support statistical analysis of key performance and impact indicators. They will also support the development of visualizations such as charts, graphs, dashboards, and tables. These visualizations communicate program results clearly and effectively for both internal and external audiences.

Interns will assist in preparing PowerPoint presentations, quarterly reports, learning briefs, and executive summary decks. These materials present data insights in a professional and MEDA‑aligned format. In addition, they will contribute to internal learning discussions, support indicator tracking, and assist in validating outcome narratives against available data and evidence. The interns will also engage with other team members to improve data management processes and support continuous improvement in MERL activities.

Applicants should be recent graduates or currently enrolled in degree programs in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Development Studies, Public Policy, or related fields. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required. Familiarity with Power BI, Stata, R, Python, or SPSS is an advantage. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of French is preferred. Moreover, remote jobs for Africans in the international development field increasingly value multilingual skills.

The internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in impact measurement, evidence-based decision-making, and development programming within a globally recognized organization.
