CALL FOR ELECTION OBSERVERS
BBYDI is inviting committed, responsible, objective and civic-minded Nigerians to participate as Election Observers for the 2026 Kano, Gombe, Bauchi and Delta State Bye-Elections.
The Election Observation Mission is designed to promote peaceful, credible, inclusive and transparent electoral participation. Selected observers will receive training ahead of deployment and will contribute to transparency, accountability, voter confidence and electoral integrity through peaceful, neutral and objective observation and reporting.
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
This opportunity is open to Nigerians who are passionate about democracy, believe every vote should count and are willing to contribute to strengthening the electoral process.
ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must be residents of any Local Government Area within Kano, Gombe, Bauchi or Delta State, as applicable to their deployment.
- Applicants must demonstrate strong commitment to neutrality and non-partisanship.
- Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years of age.
- Applicants must be willing to contribute to democratic accountability and credible elections.
- Applicants must be available for pre-election briefing and Election Day deployment.
- Applicants must be willing to observe peacefully and report electoral activities objectively.
- Applicants must be able to use a mobile phone for communication and reporting during deployment.
OBSERVERS’ ROLE
Selected observers will be trained before deployment and assigned to observe the election at a polling unit closest to their residence within their ward, typically the polling unit where they would ordinarily exercise their voting rights.
The role requires observers to remain neutral, avoid partisan activities and provide accurate, objective reports on the electoral process.
VOLUNTEER POSITION AND REIMBURSEMENT
The election observer role is a volunteer civic engagement opportunity and is not paid employment.
To support communication and basic participation during the assignment, selected observers will receive a reimbursement of ₦15,000, structured as follows:
₦5,000 for pre-election communication support, including calls, data and text messages.
₦10,000 as an Election Day support stipend.
