This pivotal role is central to OPay’s strategy for deepening market penetration and extending financial accessibility to a broader range of businesses. The successful candidates will be responsible for the strategic acquisition, activation, and effective deployment of Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals to new merchants. Beyond simply deploying devices, Field Officers will play a crucial role in building lasting relationships with local businesses, educating them on the myriad benefits of OPay’s comprehensive suite of digital financial solutions, and ensuring seamless integration into their daily operations.
Key Responsibilities for this Role will Include:
• Identifying and prospecting potential merchant partners across designated territories.
• Conducting effective sales presentations and demonstrations of OPay’s POS devices and services.
• Onboarding new merchants, guiding them through the registration process, and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.
• Strategically deploying and activating OPay POS terminals, ensuring optimal functionality.
• Providing comprehensive training and ongoing support to merchants on how to efficiently operate the POS terminal and utilize OPay’s digital services to maximize their business potential.
• Achieving ambitious daily, weekly, and monthly merchant acquisition and transaction volume targets.
• Collecting feedback from merchants to inform product improvements and enhance user experience.
• Representing OPay with the highest level of professionalism and integrity in the field.
The Ideal Candidate will Possess:
• A strong sales acumen with a proven track record in field sales, direct sales, or merchant acquisition, preferably within the fintech, banking, or telecommunications sectors.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
• A self-driven, resilient, and target-oriented mindset, capable of working independently to achieve set goals.
• A thorough understanding of the local business landscape and merchant needs.
• A passion for digital transformation and financial inclusion, eager to make a tangible impact on local economies.

• Basic technological literacy and comfort with mobile applications and digital tools.
