ABOUT THE ROLE

Jhpiego is recruiting three Senior Research Officers to support data collection, analysis, reporting, and learning activities for a Quality Improvement Project midline/learning assessment study across Jigawa, Gombe, and Ekiti States.

One Senior Research Officer will be assigned to each implementation state. The officers will work under the supervision of the Research and Learning Manager and support the full data lifecycle, including digital tool configuration, training, real-time data quality assurance, quantitative and qualitative data management, analysis, visualization, and reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Support the revision and digital configuration of quantitative and qualitative research tools.
2. Programme and deploy data collection tools using KoboCollect/KoboToolbox, including skip logic, validation rules, calculated fields, and user access settings.
3. Support pre-testing, piloting, deployment, maintenance, and version control of digital data collection tools.
4. Facilitate national and state-level training on evaluation procedures, digital data collection, data quality, and reporting requirements.
5. Provide technical support to supervisors and data collectors during training and field implementation.
6. Monitor real-time data submissions and conduct routine checks for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
7. Identify duplicates, outliers, missing information, and data entry errors and support corrective action.
8. Support data cleaning, validation, organization, and preparation of analysis-ready datasets.
9. Conduct or support quantitative analysis, descriptive statistics, indicator calculations, data summaries, and comparative analysis.
10. Support transcription, translation, coding, thematic analysis, and triangulation of qualitative data.
11. Support analysis of DHIS2/HMIS and other routine health information system data.
12. Develop tables, charts, dashboards, figures, and other data visualization products.
13. Contribute to evaluation reports, technical briefs, presentations, data annexes, codebooks, and dissemination materials.
14. Support compliance with data protection policies, ethical approvals, informed consent, confidentiality, anonymization, and secure data management.
15. Participate in technical review meetings, validation workshops, stakeholder engagements, trainings, and dissemination activities.
16. Prepare activity updates and contribute to progress reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in research, monitoring, evaluation and learning, or impact evaluation within health or development programmes.

Experience designing and implementing mixed-methods and/or quasi-experimental evaluations.

Experience with research tool revision, field training, data quality assurance, and mixed-methods analysis.

Strong experience working with large routine health datasets, including DHIS2/HMIS.

Experience coordinating multi-site or multi-state evaluations in Nigeria is strongly preferred.

Familiarity with Quality Improvement methodologies such as PDSA cycles, run charts, and root-cause analysis.

Knowledge of national programmes covering TB, HIV, Malaria, and MNCH is desirable.

Experience with the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Programme is an added advantage.

Experience with Global Fund or other donor-funded programmes and national/sub-national health systems is strongly preferred.

Ability to deliver high-quality analytical outputs and reports within tight timelines.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

STATA, R, SPSS or equivalent statistical software.

Advanced Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, Power Query, and complex formulas.

Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent visualization tools is preferred.

NVivo, ATLAS.ti, Dedoose, or equivalent qualitative analysis software.

DHIS2 and routine health management information systems.

KoboCollect, KoboToolbox, ODK, or similar digital data collection platforms.

Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Google Workspace.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Jhpiego is recruiting Monitoring and Evaluation Associates to support facility-level data quality, research data collection, analysis, reporting, integrated data management, and monitoring activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conduct onsite verification of facility service delivery register entries.
2. Support facilities and LGAs to correct identified data errors using systematic change logs.
3. Support monthly data validation and all data quality dimensions.
4. Administer and supervise structured questionnaires and research data collection.
5. Support strengthening of integrated data management systems at state and LGA levels.
6. Help health providers review register data, identify gaps, and develop solutions.
7. Support research and assessments that inform project learning.
8. Monitor weekly uploads and ensure timely harmonization of monthly data.
9. Support data analysis, reporting, and documentation.
10. Escalate critical issues requiring management intervention.
11. Support administrative activities and stakeholder management.
12. Participate in meetings and communicate progress and feedback to stakeholders.
13. Document best practices, lessons learned, success stories, and activity reports.
14. Address other M&E-related issues as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Social Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.

4–5 years of work experience in monitoring and evaluation or data management, preferably within a Quality Improvement Project or related field.

Proven experience conducting data analysis and producing high-quality reports.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.

Experience implementing research data collection using Excel, REDCap, KoboCollect, or similar tools.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

Familiarity with donor and national requirements and reporting standards.

Willingness to travel to project sites when required.

Knowledge of local languages and cultural contexts is an advantage.
