Anchor for Life Support and Resilience is a nationally recognized non-profit organization established in 2022, committed to driving sustainable development and resilience in rural communities across Nigeria. The organization implements impactful programs across key sectors including Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Protection, Climate Action, Education, Livelihoods, Health, and Nutrition. ALSAR’s mission is to build a peaceful and resilient society by empowering individuals and communities through inclusive and sustainable interventions.

ALSAR is currently seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of MEAL Officer to support its programs in Borno State.

 MEAL Officer

Location: Maiduguri, Borno State

Employment Type: Contract

Duration: 6 Months

Qualification: BSc or HND

Reports to: Program Manager

Job Summary

The MEAL Officer will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and coordination of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning systems across ALSAR programs. The role is critical to ensuring high-quality data collection, promoting accountability, and facilitating learning processes that improve program performance and impact.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage data systems effectively while supporting evidence-based decision-making within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Develop and implement MEAL frameworks, plans, and tools across programs
  • Conduct routine data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Support baseline, midline, and endline assessments
  • Maintain program databases and tracking systems

2. Data Quality Assurance

  • Ensure data accuracy through verification and validation processes
  • Monitor data quality standards and support continuous improvement

3. Accountability Systems

  • Promote and manage feedback and complaint response mechanisms
  • Ensure beneficiary voices are captured and integrated into program improvements

4. Learning and Knowledge Management

  • Facilitate learning sessions and reflection meetings
  • Document lessons learned and best practices
  • Support knowledge sharing across program teams

5. Reporting

  • Prepare timely and high-quality reports for internal use and donor requirements
  • Support program teams with data-driven insights for decision-making

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related fields
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning or related roles
  • Strong knowledge of data collection and analysis tools such as Excel, KoboToolbox, and SPSS
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, and documentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Desired Skills

  • Prior experience in the NGO or development sector
  • Familiarity with donor reporting requirements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
