Job Overview
Malaria Consortium is recruiting qualified candidates for the role of LGA Field Assistant across Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi States. The role is critical to supporting the implementation of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) activities at the Local Government Area (LGA), health facility, and community levels.
The LGA Field Assistant will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and monitoring programme activities while working closely with government stakeholders, health workers, and community leaders to ensure effective delivery of malaria prevention interventions.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Implementation (70%)
- Support the execution of SMC activities at LGA and community levels
- Coordinate planning meetings, route plans, and commodity distribution
- Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages and ensure accountability
- Supervise field teams including Health Facility Workers (HFWs) and Community Health Workers (CHWs)
- Support community mobilization and ensure adherence to programme protocols
- Track performance targets and ensure timely delivery of activities
Reporting & Data Quality (10%)
- Review and validate field data (e.g., tally sheets)
- Ensure accurate data entry into reporting platforms
- Support M&E teams in resolving data quality issues
- Submit regular reports to supervisors and project managers
Coordination & Representation (10%)
- Participate in LGA-level planning and review meetings
- Collaborate with public health officials and stakeholders
- Represent the programme in community engagements where necessary
Administrative Duties (10%)
- Support training activities and logistics coordination
- Monitor supply consumption and inventory reconciliation
- Assist in planning stock requirements for field operations
- Perform other duties as assigned by line managers
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential
- Minimum of Diploma or BSc in Public Health, Nursing, Clinical, Science, or related field
- At least 2 years field experience in health, logistics, or development programmes
- Fluency in English and Hausa (additional local languages are an advantage)
- Experience in commodity supply management, M&E, and logistics
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable
- Experience in training and capacity building
- Prior experience working at LGA level
- Ability to support and supervise field teams
Core Skills
- Strong planning and organizational abilities
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Ability to work under pressure in challenging environments
- Teamwork and independent working capability
- Nigerian citizenship (required)
