Job Overview
Malaria Consortium is seeking a detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support financial operations in Sokoto State. The role involves handling clerical and accounting tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with organizational financial policies and procedures.
The Finance Assistant will play a vital role in documenting transactions, preparing payment schedules, organizing financial records, and supporting the finance team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations across field and country offices.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Operations (50%)
- Review financial transactions for completeness, accuracy, and proper approvals
- Prepare payment vouchers with correct coding and classification
- Process payment schedules for staff, training participants, and consultants
- Maintain financial records and journals using Excel templates
- Ensure compliance with Malaria Consortium financial policies and procedures
- Monitor stock levels of financial documents (vouchers, receipts, etc.)
Supplier & Invoice Management (15%)
- Track vendor invoices and ensure timely processing
- Prepare invoice payments and obtain necessary approvals
Operations & Documentation (30%)
- Scan, file, and archive finance documents systematically
- Ensure proper documentation and easy retrieval of financial records
- Track movement of payment documents between field and country offices
Additional Support (5%)
- Assist during audits by providing required documentation
- Support asset verification and spot checks
- Perform other duties as assigned by the finance team
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 1 year post-graduation experience, including at least 6 months in a finance or accounts support role
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of donor-funded project financial requirements
- Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills
Desirable
- Experience working with an INGO
- Familiarity with accounting software
