Key Responsibilities
- Participate in project planning, follow-up, and laboratory budget review
- Ensure compliance with MSF hygiene and safety protocols and inform staff of biological risks
- Perform laboratory tests and sample collection (serology, hematology, biochemistry, bacteriology, parasitology)
- Maintain accurate patient data and communicate test results to doctors
- Ensure proper management, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment
- Prevent stock-outs by managing supplies and inventory systems
- Maintain cold chain systems for samples and reagents in collaboration with logistics
- Manage laboratory activity records and tools (e.g., EpyTryp) in the absence of a Lab Manager
- Prepare and send samples for external quality control
- Supervise laboratory staff, including recruitment, training, coaching, and performance evaluation
- Ensure staff are properly trained to use medical devices
- Report equipment malfunctions to the biomedical team
- Produce regular reports on laboratory activities and operational challenges
Requirements & Expectations
- Strong laboratory technical skills across multiple disciplines
- Experience in laboratory supervision and team management
- Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and quality control procedures
- Ability to manage inventory, equipment, and reporting systems
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in a high-pressure humanitarian setting
