Responsibilities

The Junior Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at GIZ will support research, monitoring, and knowledge management activities required for effective planning and implementation of programme monitoring and evaluation systems. The role involves coordinating with colleagues and implementing partners across countries to compile and analyze relevant programme data.

Key Tasks

Coordination and Monitoring

The role involves maintaining an overview of project activities, timelines, and deliverables and presenting updates during team meetings. The Specialist will support project monitoring activities by collecting data, updating progress information, and documenting results of project activities.

The position will assist with planning and documenting meetings, workshops, seminars, and other programme events, particularly focusing on technical aspects. The Specialist will also support short-term experts assigned to the project in completing their assignments.

Research and Data Collection

The role includes supporting the design and implementation of qualitative and quantitative research activities. Responsibilities include developing survey tools, conducting field trials, training field staff, organizing field activities, and collecting and analyzing data. Additionally, the Junior Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at GIZ will contribute expertise in project data evaluation.

Knowledge Management

The Specialist will support preparation of reports and datasets, maintain project documentation systems, and ensure proper organization of knowledge management materials. The role also involves updating project information systems and maintaining the programme’s documentation and filing structures.

Support to Project Activities

The position will assist with developing terms of reference for monitoring and evaluation assignments and support planning, logistics, and organization of technical workshops with partners. The Specialist may also moderate team meetings and support the implementation of project activities.

General Duties

The Specialist will familiarize themselves with monitoring and evaluation requirements, project planning procedures, and reporting systems used by GIZ. The role also involves maintaining awareness of related programme activities and collaborating with relevant experts and team members.
