COOPI – Cooperazione Internazionale, an Italian humanitarian NGO founded in Milan in 1965, is currently recruiting qualified candidates for the position of Finance and Admin Officer. The organization is dedicated to supporting vulnerable populations by improving access to healthcare, food security, and financial stability, while responding to emergencies caused by conflicts and natural disasters.

This recruitment is for three (3) positions across Benue, Kaduna, and Katsina States in Nigeria.

Job Summary
The Finance and Administrative Officer will be responsible for managing financial, administrative, and human resource activities for assigned projects. The role ensures compliance with COOPI procedures, donor regulations, and local laws while supporting efficient project implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Maintain accurate accounting records in line with COOPI and donor requirements.
  • Handle cash management, including daily transactions and entries into the DESy accounting system.
  • Conduct monthly cash and bank reconciliations under supervision.
  • Prepare payment documents and ensure all supporting documentation is complete and compliant.
  • Support audits and financial reporting processes.
  • Carry out bank transactions, including withdrawals, transfers, and reconciliations.

Administrative Functions

  • Ensure proper administrative management of contracts, procurement processes, and service agreements.
  • Organize, file, and archive financial documents both physically and digitally on COOPI cloud systems.
  • Support inventory tracking in collaboration with the logistics team.

Project & Operational Support

  • Serve as finance focal point during cash distributions, ensuring compliance and proper documentation.
  • Monitor financial processes during project activities and distributions.
  • Remit statutory taxes such as withholding tax (WHT) in compliance with state regulations.

Human Resource Support

  • Collect and maintain HR documentation for staff.
  • Manage attendance records, leave tracking, and payroll documentation.
  • Support preparation of staff timesheets and related HR processes.

Candidate Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or HR is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3–4 years relevant experience, preferably with an NGO or INGO.
  • NYSC discharge certificate is required.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting, and administrative processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other computer applications.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and reporting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to accountability.
  • Understanding of humanitarian and emergency contexts.

Additional Requirements

  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Hausa is an advantage.
  • Willingness to work in remote and challenging environments.
  • Strong teamwork, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
