Action Against Hunger is an international humanitarian organization working to end hunger and improve the lives of communities affected by crisis. In Nigeria, the organization implements integrated humanitarian and development programmes across the Northeast and Northwest.
Action Against Hunger is seeking an experienced Field Coordinator to provide strategic leadership and oversee programme delivery, operations, security management, government engagement and partnership development in Katsina State.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Field Coordinator will be responsible for managing and developing ACF programming and strategy, ensuring effective project cycle management and coordinating activities across programme and support departments.
Key duties include:
Manage and coordinate integrated humanitarian and recovery programmes in line with ACF strategy.
Develop partnerships and alliances with relevant stakeholders in Katsina State.
Supervise Programme Managers and ensure effective implementation of project workplans.
Coordinate programme development, assessments, evaluations and research.
Contribute to concept notes, funding proposals and donor reports.
Identify opportunities for programme expansion and resource mobilization.
Lead, motivate and supervise field teams.
Manage team performance, conflicts and individual action plans.
Coordinate with technical departments and Abuja-based support teams.
Monitor operational, programme and security challenges and develop practical solutions.
Support security planning, staff briefings, emergency preparedness and crisis management.
Oversee field-level Human Resources, Finance and Logistics operations.
Ensure compliance with ACF policies, donor regulations and Nigerian laws.
Represent ACF in Katsina and participate in humanitarian coordination mechanisms.
Support engagement with government authorities, partners and other stakeholders.
Map and assess potential local implementing partners.
Support partner selection, capacity building, training and performance management.
Ensure effective reporting, documentation, capitalization, quality control and accountability mechanisms.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants should have:
A degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, International Development, Humanitarian Response or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience working with international NGOs in insecure contexts.
Previous Action Against Hunger emergency or post emergency experience is an advantage.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Experience managing multicultural teams.
Excellent communication, negotiation and diplomacy skills.
Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership development abilities.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing environments.
Strong decision making, problem solving and analytical skills.
Excellent writing, reporting and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently while maintaining effective teamwork.
