Job Summary
The GSO Assistant will support the General Services Office in managing customer service and travel-related portfolios. The successful candidate will provide service support to locally employed staff, American direct-hire employees, and their families assigned to Abuja.
The position reports to the Supervisory General Services Officer and is a supervisory position.
Key Requirements
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and pass the required background investigation.
Selected candidates must also be able to commence employment within approximately 6 weeks after receiving the necessary authorization and clearances.
Education
A university degree in any of the following or a related field is required:
Mathematics
Psychology
Law
Business Management
Communications
Experience
Applicants must have:
2 years of experience in logistics, procurement, project management, administrative or business management, or quality management.
6 months of supervisory experience is also required.
Language
Fluency in English, including speaking, reading, and writing, is required.
Knowledge
Applicants should have knowledge of:
General Services Office activities and regulations.
Federal Acquisition Regulations.
Acquisition Regulations.
Federal Travel Regulations.
Administrative and office procedures.
Embassy organizational structures.
Host-country business practices.
Government and private-sector relationship management.
Relevant Nigerian administrative institutions and processes, including areas involving foreign affairs, customs, taxation, and motor vehicle administration.
Skills and Abilities
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, documents, guidelines, and presentations.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills.
Ability to provide customers with clear guidance and training.
Ability to remain professional and courteous when handling stressful situations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
High typing accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
