🔍 Role Overview
The GBV Case Worker will provide direct, survivor-centred support to individuals affected by gender-based violence (GBV). Working under the Protection Supervisor, the role involves case management, psychosocial support, and coordination with health services, community structures, and humanitarian partners.
🧩 Key Responsibilities
1. Case Management & Support
- Provide psychological first aid and psychosocial support
- Assess survivor needs and develop action plans
- Follow up and safely close cases using GBV guidelines
- Ensure proper documentation using GBVIMS tools
2. Referrals & Coordination
- Refer survivors to services like:
- Health care
- Child protection
- Mental health support
- Work closely with NGOs, UN agencies, and government actors
- Accompany survivors where necessary
3. Data & Reporting
- Maintain confidential case records and databases
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports
- Analyze case data using GBVIMS
4. Community & Safe Space Support
- Support women and girls’ safe spaces
- Ensure survivor-centred principles (confidentiality, dignity, safety)
- Organize case conferences for complex cases
5. Training & Team Support
- Supervise and mentor Protection Volunteers
- Deliver training on GBV, child protection, and confidentiality
- Conduct regular team debriefings
6. Compliance & Ethics
- Promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse)
- Ensure safe handling of sensitive data
- Uphold humanitarian principles at all times
🎓 Requirements
Education
- Degree or HND in:
- Social Sciences
- Psychology
- Related field
Experience
- 2–4 years in GBV programming or case management (NGO experience preferred)
Skills
- Strong understanding of:
- Gender issues and power dynamics
- GBV guiding principles
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion
Languages
- Fluent in English
- Hausa or Gwoza dialect required
Technical
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
