About the Role
The organization is seeking a Community Health Educator to support health promotion and community engagement activities across its medical projects. The role focuses on improving health awareness, strengthening patient understanding of services, and ensuring effective communication between communities and healthcare teams.
The position plays a key role in delivering health education, gathering community feedback, and supporting patient experience within MSF-supported health facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver health education sessions on hygiene, disease prevention, nutrition, and available health services
- Orient patients, caregivers, and visitors on hospital procedures, patient rights, and safeguarding guidelines
- Conduct community monitoring, including nutritional screening, vaccination follow-ups, and risk identification
- Identify individuals requiring medical attention and support referrals to clinical teams
- Provide targeted health education in antenatal, postnatal, ward, and waiting areas
- Collect feedback on patient experience, including hygiene, sanitation, and service quality
- Support patient experience activities such as surveys, exit interviews, and IPC (Infection Prevention and Control) awareness
- Assist with consent processes and culturally appropriate communication between patients and medical staff
- Use local languages and appropriate communication tools for effective outreach
- Compile and report daily health education data and indicators
- Support nutrition education and food demonstration sessions for mothers and caregivers
Requirements
Candidates are expected to demonstrate:
- Strong communication and community engagement skills
- Experience in health education, public health, or community outreach (advantageous)
- Ability to work with diverse populations in sensitive environments
- Knowledge of local languages (strong advantage)
- Ability to collect and report field data accurately
- Commitment to humanitarian principles and patient-centered care
