MSF WACA is currently seeking a highly skilled Logistics Manager to plan, coordinate, and monitor all logistics-related activities for our project in Kano.
Role Overview
The Logistics Manager ensures the optimal running of the project by providing technical and operational support to medical activities. You will be responsible for maintaining MSF protocols and standards across construction, transport, communications, and water and sanitation (WHS).
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning and Implementation
• Collaborate with the Project and Logistics Coordinators to define and follow up on logistics activities, ensuring they meet the needs of the target population.
• Oversee construction, staff and goods transportation, and the maintenance of functional office and lodging facilities.
• Implement and monitor Water, Health, and Sanitation (WHS) activities within the project.
2. Supply Chain and Administration
• Manage the project’s supply chain, ensuring strict compliance with procurement procedures and transparency in supplier selection.
• Handle administrative tasks linked to logistics, including insurance, vehicle contracts, and international staff lodging.
• Specifically for the Kano context: Oversee the supply team and ensure quality assurance in one of Nigeria’s largest markets.
3. Human Resources and Leadership
• Participate in the recruitment, training, evaluation, and development of logistics staff.
• Act as the technical reference for all logistics issues, providing coaching and regular briefings on communication tools (HF/VHF, handsets, etc.).
4. Safety and Security
• Define and monitor technical aspects of the project’s risk reduction and security policies.
• Prepare and update evacuation and contingency plans.
• Monitor daily application of security rules and facilitate an environment for information exchange regarding safety.
Requirements
• Education: Minimum of SSCE, Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• Experience: Proven experience in logistics management, preferably within an international humanitarian setting.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in supply chain management, infrastructure maintenance, and security protocols.
• Attributes: High level of integrity, transparency, and the ability to work under pressure in a crisis environment.
