African Union Youth Volunteer Corps AU YVC
The African Union is inviting applications for the 2026/2027 African Union Youth Volunteer Corps AU YVC a prestigious continental programme designed to empower young Africans through professional volunteer service. Established in 2010 the initiative recruits trains and deploys young professionals from all 55 African Union Member States for a 12 month assignment across the continent.
The programme aims to promote youth participation in Africa’s development agenda in line with Agenda 2063 The Africa We Want. Volunteers contribute their skills knowledge and creativity while gaining hands on experience exposure to policy processes and opportunities to collaborate with emerging leaders across Africa.
Successful applicants will receive a return flight ticket a monthly stipend health insurance an African Union Service Passport and access to training and mentorship. A separation allowance is also provided upon successful completion of service.
Applicants must be citizens of an African Union Member State living on the continent or in the diaspora and must be aged between 18 and 35 years. Candidates are required to hold at least a post secondary qualification such as ND HND Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and must have a minimum of one year of volunteering experience and one year of professional work experience. Applicants must be available to commit to 12 months of service and be willing to live and work in another African country. Proficiency in at least one African Union working language is required.
