Africa continues to face complex healthcare challenges, including limited access to quality services, workforce shortages, fragmented digital health systems, and an increasing disease burden. Addressing these challenges requires more than technology—it requires leaders who understand healthcare systems, local context, and people.
The Africa Healthcare Innovation Fellowship (AHIF) was established to develop such leaders.
About the Fellowship
The AHIF 2026 Cohort is a 14-week, field-based fellowship designed to equip young African professionals with the skills, networks, and hands-on experience required to identify problems, design solutions, test innovations, and scale context-relevant healthcare initiatives.
Developed by InnovateHealth Africa (IHA), AHIF places fellows directly within real healthcare systems, working on real challenges alongside health facilities, communities, policymakers, and innovation hubs across Africa.
Due to the high volume of applications received, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Applicants selected to proceed to the next stage will be notified via email.
Eligibility – Who Should Apply
AHIF 2026 is designed for young African professionals who are ready to commit, learn, and build. Applicants must:
- Be a citizen of an African country and currently reside on the continent
- Be between 18 and 35 years of age at the time of application
- Have a background or demonstrated experience in healthcare, public health, digital health, technology, or innovation
- Demonstrate a strong interest in healthcare innovation and digital transformation
- Be able to commit fully to the duration of the fellowship
Fellowship Benefits
