MSF West and Central Africa is inviting applications for the position below in Nigeria.

Position: Paediatrician

Location: Kano State, Nigeria

Job Responsibilities

1. Provide quality paediatric and nutritional care to children admitted to the Inpatient Therapeutic Feeding Centre (ITFC), following MSF medical protocols.
2. Diagnose and treat newborns and children, including those with severe acute malnutrition and related complications.
3. Conduct daily patient assessments, monitor treatment progress and ensure timely referrals when necessary.
4. Train, coach and supervise medical and paramedical staff on paediatric care and the management of malnutrition.
5. Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control procedures and hygiene standards.
6. Review complicated cases, monitor clinical data and contribute to improvements in patient care.
7. Coordinate with maternity, hospital departments and referral facilities to ensure continuity of care.
8. Supervise assigned staff and participate in emergency duties and on-call services when required.

Qualifications and Requirements

1. A medical degree from a recognised university is essential.
2. At least 3 years of experience as a medical doctor in a paediatric hospital.
3. Previous experience as a paediatrician is desirable.
4. Previous experience with MSF or another international healthcare organisation is an advantage.
5. Strong clinical skills and knowledge of outpatient care.
6. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet applications.
7. Fluency in English is required, while knowledge of Hausa is desirable.
8. Strong teamwork, communication, stress management and commitment to humanitarian principles.
