About PUI
Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) is an international non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance to populations affected by crises such as conflict, disasters, and economic instability.
Operating in Nigeria since 2016, PUI delivers critical support in health, nutrition, protection, and psychosocial services, particularly across Borno State and other vulnerable regions.
Role Summary
Under the supervision of the Human Resources Officer, the HR Assistant will support all HR-related activities at the base office, including administration, recruitment, staff management, and capacity building.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Management
- Maintain and update HR files (physical and electronic)
- Prepare staff documentation (contracts, ID cards, insurance)
- Manage archives and internal contact lists
- Support onboarding and audit preparation
Human Resources Management
- Assist in implementing HR policies and procedures
- Track staff leave, evaluations, and contract updates
- Maintain confidentiality of HR information
- Support staff database management
Recruitment & Staffing
- Manage recruitment documentation and applications
- Communicate with candidates throughout hiring process
- Schedule interviews and tests
- Support onboarding of new employees
Capacity Building
- Assist in identifying and organizing training programs
- Maintain training records and certifications
Payroll Support
- Collect salary advance requests
- Update staff banking details in HR systems
Requirements
Education:
- Degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or related field
Experience:
- Minimum of 6 months experience in HR (NGO experience is an advantage)
Languages:
- Fluent in English and Hausa (Kanuri is an added advantage)
Skills:
- Strong writing and analytical skills
- Knowledge of Nigerian Labour Law
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
