ABOUT THE ROLE

The International Organization for Migration IOM is seeking an Information and Communication Technology Assistant to support ICT operations in Abuja.

Working under the overall supervision of the Information Management Technology Officer and the direct supervision of the Senior ICT Team Lead, the successful candidate will support the installation, operation and maintenance of computer systems, hardware peripherals and ICT requirements for IOM Abuja and its projects.

The role will provide first-level technical support, troubleshoot ICT issues, manage equipment and user accounts, maintain ICT inventories and support the effective implementation of IOM ICT standards and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Install approved software systems on servers and workstations according to established standards.

Install and configure PCs, laptops, servers, printers and other ICT equipment.

Maintain installed software and ensure updates, including antivirus definitions, are properly applied.

Provide first-level support to end users experiencing software, hardware, connectivity, access, file storage and application-related issues.

Escalate complex technical problems to the Senior ICT Team Lead or ICT Unit Head.

Support compliance with IOM ICT rules, regulations, standards and procedures.

Raise awareness among staff on IOM ICT regulations and standards.

Manage email user accounts and mailing lists and regularly check their integrity.

Serve as the first point of contact for staff collecting new or replacement hardware.

Identify faulty devices and coordinate appropriate repairs or replacements.

Maintain records of required repairs and maintenance.

Assist with the maintenance of computers, peripherals and network devices.

Maintain ICT equipment inventories and monitor stock levels.

Track ICT equipment procurement requests and support testing of new equipment.

Prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate.

Perform user data and server backups and conduct random tests to confirm backup consistency.

Diagnose and resolve hardware, software and connectivity problems with minimal delay.

Provide technical support to Telerad, file server, PACS server and iCRco_XC software systems.

Ensure workstation and server hardware operates properly and meets expected standards.

Manage PABX and communication systems.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Completed university degree from an accredited academic institution in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.

Minimum of 4 years of relevant ICT experience, including operational and field experience.

Experience working with an established IT support centre through phone and email communication.

Good knowledge of Windows operating systems and networking.

Knowledge of VOIP and corporate Skype installations is required.

Knowledge of other IOM-approved software is an advantage.

MSCE and Cisco Certified Network Associate CCNA qualifications are an added advantage.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and SharePoint.

Good knowledge of information technology and ICT support systems.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks.

Strong multitasking and prioritisation skills.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Fluency in English is required, both oral and written.

Working knowledge or fluency in Nigerian languages is preferred.

CONTRACT

Special Short Term Graded contract for up to 9 months.
