JOB SUMMARY
The Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Assistant will support monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting activities by collecting, capturing, verifying and managing programme data. The role will also provide support for reporting, donor compliance, knowledge management and programme coordination.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- DATA COLLECTION AND MANAGEMENT
Assist with programme data collection using approved tools such as surveys, registers and field forms. Capture and update data accurately, verify data completeness and support field visits and routine monitoring activities.
- MONITORING SUPPORT
Track programme activities against established indicators and targets, maintain monitoring records, implement monitoring tools and flag data inconsistencies or gaps to the M&E Officer.
- PROPOSAL AND RESOURCE MOBILISATION SUPPORT
Assist with developing indicators, logframes and results frameworks for proposals. Provide programme data and evidence for funding submissions and help align proposed outcomes with monitoring systems.
- REPORTING SUPPORT
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual M&E reports. Prepare basic data summaries, tables and visualisations and support the consolidation of programme data for donor reports.
- DONOR COMPLIANCE
Maintain documentation required for reporting and audits, track donor requirements and reporting deadlines, and ensure proper filing of compliance documents and supporting evidence.
- LEARNING AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT
Support the documentation of lessons learned, best practices and success stories. Assist with reflection sessions, learning events and knowledge management systems.
- ADMINISTRATIVE AND COORDINATION SUPPORT
Provide logistical and administrative support for M&E activities and training sessions. Coordinate with programme staff to collect required data and assist in preparing data collection tools and materials.
- PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
Maintain confidentiality when handling organisational and client information. Demonstrate professionalism, ethical behaviour and a youth-friendly, non-judgemental approach when interacting with youth, staff and stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Data Science or a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience in data collection, M&E or programme support.
- Understanding of monitoring and evaluation principles.
- Data collection, entry and basic data analysis skills.
- Strong report writing, communication and teamwork skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Familiarity with data collection tools or databases such as DHIS2, Kobo or Excel-based systems.
ADDED ADVANTAGE
Experience working in an NGO or development-sector environment.
