ABOUT HANDS
Health and Development Support Programme HANDS is a Nigerian Non Governmental Organization founded in 1995. The organization works across several states in Nigeria to improve public health, disability inclusion, clubfoot treatment, prevention of blindness, reproductive health, gender mainstreaming, neglected tropical disease control and emergency response.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Programme Officer will support the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of the MiracleFeet Clubfoot Programme. The successful candidate will help expand access to quality clubfoot treatment, strengthen relationships with partner clinics, support clinical and programme capacity building, monitor programme performance and use data to improve outcomes.
The position is based in Jos and requires regular travel to supported states, clinics, health facilities and LGAs, particularly across Northern Nigeria.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead expansion efforts for the clubfoot programme in Northern Nigeria.
Strengthen relationships with partner clinics and provide programme support, coaching and mentoring.
Support the sourcing, screening, evaluation and strengthening of clinic partners.
Coordinate Basic and Advanced Ponseti and CAST Application trainings.
Support development of programme work plans, budgets, forecasts and implementation strategies.
Work with clinics to improve treatment quality, outreach, identification, referral and retention.
Analyse programme data and support data driven decision making using CAST, CommCare and other digital platforms.
Monitor KPIs, monthly targets, referrals, enrolment, retention, defaults and treatment outcomes.
Conduct supportive supervision, routine field visits and data quality activities.
Maintain programme dashboards and a live risk register covering security, supply, HR and stakeholder issues.
Support financial monitoring, burn rate tracking and variance analysis with the Finance team.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, PSEA, data protection and organizational policies.
Support regular weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting to HANDS and MiracleFeet WCA.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Social Work, Physiotherapy, Public Health, Health Information Management, Demography, Project Management or a related discipline.
Minimum of 4 years progressive experience in programme monitoring, evaluation, research, data management or programme performance monitoring.
Experience in health, public health, disability, rehabilitation, community health or development programmes.
Experience with NGOs, international development organizations, government health programmes or donor funded projects is highly desirable.
Strong Microsoft Excel and quantitative data analysis skills.
Experience with digital platforms such as CommCare, CAST, KoboToolbox, ODK, DHIS2, SurveyCTO or REDCap.
Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, Salesforce or similar tools is an advantage.
Strong report writing, presentation, communication and facilitation skills.
Ability to train, coach and mentor programme staff.
Knowledge of clubfoot programming and the Ponseti treatment pathway is highly desirable.
Experience with MiracleFeet supported programmes or CAST and CommCare is an advantage.
Fluency in Hausa is strongly preferred.
Excellent written and spoken English is required.
Willingness and ability to undertake frequent field travel is essential.
