Role Overview

The Data & Research Analyst will lead the quantitative analysis function within Lafiya’s MEL department. The successful candidate will analyse routine programme data and conduct rigorous statistical analysis for research and evaluations.

The role will involve transforming programme and research data into credible evidence that can support internal decision-making, donor reporting, academic partnerships, national policy discussions, and potential government adoption.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Lead quantitative analysis of routine counselling data from platforms including SurveyCTO, DHIS2, and NHLMIS.
• Build and maintain indicator calculations supporting dashboards and reporting.
• Reconcile discrepancies across different data systems and identify data-quality gaps.
• Conduct regular trend, cohort, and continuation-rate analyses.
• Design sampling and analysis strategies for evaluations.
• Lead statistical analysis from evaluation protocol development through final analysis.
• Apply advanced methods such as Difference-in-Differences (DiD) and longitudinal analysis.
• Write R scripts to clean, merge, analyse, and track historical datasets.
• Produce publication-ready evidence for academic partners and high-level donor reporting.
• Provide technical input during discussions with Federal-level stakeholders and technical partners.
• Occasionally support evaluation field implementation, including enumerator training and data-quality oversight.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Econometrics, Statistics, Data Science, Public Health, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree will be an advantage.

Mandatory experience includes:

• Designing sampling strategies for evaluations.
• Writing code for data cleaning and analysis using R, Python, or Stata.
• Advanced statistical analysis, econometrics, and modelling.
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including data cleaning, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables.
• Professional fluency in English.

The following will be advantages:

• Experience using SurveyCTO or Open Data Kit (ODK).
• Experience analysing routine monitoring or programme data from DHIS2, LMIS, or similar systems.
• Experience reconciling data across multiple information systems.
• Experience managing research teams or field enumerators.
• Familiarity with R, particularly cloud-based RStudio environments.
• Working knowledge of SQL.
• Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or Metabase.
• Hausa language skills.

The ideal candidate should be analytically rigorous, comfortable working with large and messy datasets, capable of working independently, and able to communicate complex statistical findings clearly to non-technical audiences.

Position Overview

The Strategy & Impact Analyst will support evidence-driven strategic and programmatic decision-making at Lafiya.

The successful candidate will conduct decision-support analysis, cost-effectiveness modelling, unit-cost analysis, and research synthesis to help the organization make informed decisions about programme adjustments, resource allocation, and expansion.

The role will draw on Lafiya’s programme data, evaluation findings, and wider evidence from sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and global health interventions.

As part of onboarding, the successful candidate will typically spend approximately four weeks in Nigeria gaining an in-depth understanding of Lafiya’s operations, including shadowing Lafiya Sisters, observing the contraception supply chain, and working closely with MEL and programme teams.

Key Responsibilities

The Strategy & Impact Analyst will:

• Prepare evidence and modelling to support programme, resource allocation, and expansion decisions.
• Maintain and update Lafiya’s core cost-effectiveness model.
• Track cost per client and other key unit costs and analyse changes over time.
• Build models to estimate the potential impact of proposed programme improvements.
• Monitor research and cost-effectiveness evidence relating to SRHR and global health interventions.
• Assess external evidence and determine its relevance to Lafiya’s strategic decisions.
• Support engagement with external evaluators and funders on cost-effectiveness and strategic modelling.
• Translate complex modelling and research findings into clear, decision-ready recommendations.
• Communicate assumptions, uncertainty, limitations, and findings honestly and transparently.

Requirements

Candidates should possess:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Public Health, or a related field.
• Experience building cost-effectiveness or decision-analysis models, whether through consulting, an EA-aligned research organization, or a similar quantitative role.
• Alternatively, candidates may demonstrate a strong track record of independent cost-effectiveness or decision-relevant analysis.
• Strong analytical reasoning and the ability to make sound judgments using imperfect data.
• Professional fluency in English.
