ABOUT THE ROLE
The Volunteer Research Assistant will support research activities for an upcoming Feasibility Study in Northeast Nigeria.
The role will involve data collection, data management, transcription and documentation activities that are essential to the successful implementation of the study.
This opportunity is particularly suitable for early career researchers and individuals aspiring to build careers in Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning MERL.
The successful candidate will gain practical experience in humanitarian and development research while working alongside an experienced research team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct telephone interviews and administer research tools in accordance with project protocols and ethical standards.
Ensure that collected information is complete, accurate and of high quality.
Transcribe interview recordings and research notes accurately and promptly.
Perform data entry and basic data cleaning activities as required.
Maintain confidentiality and follow informed consent procedures throughout research activities.
Carry out additional research related tasks assigned by the Research Team Lead.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Previous experience supporting research, assessments, surveys or evaluations is desirable.
Experience conducting telephone interviews or remote data collection is an advantage.
Familiarity with digital data collection tools will be beneficial.
Applicants should also have experience or basic knowledge of data entry and data management processes.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism and a commitment to producing accurate and high quality research data.
LEVEL OF EFFORT
This is a flexible volunteer consultancy role. Engagement will depend on project requirements and study timelines.
The successful volunteer may be assigned tasks periodically throughout the project and will be expected to complete agreed assignments within the required deadlines.
REMUNERATION AND PROFESSIONAL BENEFITS
This is an unpaid volunteer role. However, reasonable incentives will be provided to cover communication costs, including mobile airtime and data, as well as approved transportation expenses incurred while carrying out project related activities.
