π― About the Assignment
UNICEF Nigeria is seeking a National UN Volunteer Climate Change Specialist to support child-sensitive climate action and strengthen climate resilience across programmes in Nigeria.
The volunteer will work under the supervision of the Chief of WASH/Climate Change Lead, supporting climate change integration across WASH, Health, Nutrition, Education, Child Protection and Social Policy.
πΉ Key Responsibilities
- Support the integration of climate adaptation, mitigation and resilience into UNICEF programmes.
- Support government and implementing partners in applying climate-risk-informed approaches.
- Contribute to implementation of the Climate Landscape Analysis for Children (CLAC) Action Plan.
- Support climate financing initiatives and policy engagement with government and development partners.
- Coordinate climate-related meetings, workshops and consultations.
- Engage youth-led organizations, civil society, communities and other stakeholders.
- Develop research tools, technical briefs, case studies and knowledge products.
- Support climate-risk and vulnerability assessments.
- Track programme indicators and analyse climate-related data.
- Participate in field monitoring and supportive supervision.
- Contribute to donor reports, annual reports, presentations and human-interest stories.
- Document lessons learned, promising practices and results from climate interventions.
β Eligibility & Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Environment, Climate, Energy, Development Studies or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience; the assignment indicates 3β5 years.

- Climate change
- Climate financing
- Environmental policy
- Programme coordination
- Youth engagement
- Knowledge management
- Monitoring and reporting
- Experience working with government institutions, UN agencies, development partners, NGOs/CSOs, youth networks or community organizations.
- Strong research, analytical and documentation skills.
- Data analysis, monitoring and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and facilitation abilities.
- Strong partnership and stakeholder-management skills.
- English β Fluent.
