🎯 Position Summary

The Protection/CFM Assistant will support protection programming and accountability systems by:

  • Identifying and responding to protection concerns
  • Managing community feedback channels
  • Ensuring safe, confidential complaint mechanisms

This role is key to promoting Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) and safeguarding vulnerable communities.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

🛡️ Protection Case Management

  • Identify, assess, and document protection concerns
  • Facilitate referrals to service providers
  • Follow up on cases to ensure appropriate support
  • Maintain confidential case records

📞 Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM)

  • Manage feedback channels (suggestion boxes, hotlines, help desks)
  • Record and track complaints and feedback
  • Ensure timely resolution and communication with beneficiaries
  • Maintain accurate databases and logs

⚖️ Accountability & Safeguarding

  • Promote AAP and beneficiary rights awareness
  • Conduct sessions on PSEA, GBV, safeguarding, and complaint systems
  • Report sensitive issues (e.g., abuse, fraud, GBV) promptly

📊 Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports
  • Analyze feedback trends and recommend improvements
  • Maintain secure documentation systems

🤝 Coordination

  • Work with community leaders, partners, and stakeholders
  • Support field activities like PDMs and assessments
  • Participate in coordination meetings

🎓 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in:
    • Social Work, Sociology, Psychology
    • Community Development, Law, Public Health
    • Development Studies, International Relations, or related field
  • Certifications in Protection, GBV, Safeguarding, AAP, or PSEA (added advantage)

📊 Experience

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in:
    • Protection programming
    • Safeguarding / accountability
    • Community engagement / complaint mechanisms
  • Experience with NGOs, UN, or humanitarian settings is highly desirable

🧠 Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of Protection Principles & AAP
  • Knowledge of GBV, Child Protection, PSEA/SEAH
  • Excellent communication, listening, and counselling skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally
  • Strong reporting, documentation, and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with tools like KoboToolbox, ODK, CommCare (advantage)
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Hausa or local languages is a plus
