Job Opportunity: Policy Research and Advocacy Manager
The Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) is inviting applications for the position of Policy Research and Advocacy Manager. The role is remote with the option to work from the organisation’s head office in Nairobi, Kenya.
TJNA is a pan African organisation and a member of the Global Alliance for Tax Justice. The organisation works to promote socially just, accountable, and progressive taxation systems across Africa. TJNA pursues these goals through research, advocacy, and partnerships. In doing so, TJNA aims to strengthen tax systems and support domestic resource mobilisation. The organisation also seeks to challenge harmful tax practices that contribute to inequality.
The Policy Research and Advocacy Manager will lead the organisation’s policy unit and oversee three core areas including research coordination, policy engagement, and technical support for advocacy initiatives. The role will work closely with the Executive Director, senior management, members, and strategic partners. In addition, the Policy Research and Advocacy Manager will provide thought leadership and guide the organisation’s policy agenda.
Key responsibilities include leading policy advocacy initiatives, coordinating programmes across TJNA’s thematic areas, and managing research and knowledge generation activities. The successful candidate will guide the development of evidence based policy outputs such as policy briefs, analytical reports, and position papers. The role will also involve engaging with policymakers, government institutions, civil society organisations, and regional networks to advance TJNA’s advocacy objectives across Africa.
Applicants are expected to have at least 10 years of professional experience with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or management role. Experience in economic justice, tax policy, or public policy advocacy is considered an advantage. Candidates must demonstrate strong research, programme management, and stakeholder engagement skills. They should also demonstrate the ability to work in multicultural and fast paced environments. Fluency in English is required while knowledge of French is an added advantage.
The organisation offers a competitive gross monthly salary ranging from 5,267 USD to 6,057.67 USD depending on experience and qualifications.
