Role Summary

Population Services International Nigeria is seeking a dedicated and experienced Program Operations Lead to join the Senior Management Team. The Program Operations Lead is responsible for translating the country strategy into operational excellence and measurable health impact. Moreover, the role partners closely with Project Leads and cross functional teams to drive effective management and successful implementation of projects across the portfolio. The position provides senior oversight for annual business planning. It ensures delivery against country program strategies and performance targets. Also, it strengthens operational systems and performance culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

The role provides strategic leadership within the Senior Management Team and contributes to organizational growth and performance culture. Furthermore, the successful candidate will translate country strategy into annual operational plans with clear objectives, deliverables, key performance indicators, and aligned budgets. The role leads annual business planning and supports proposal development to secure new funding opportunities. The Program Operations Lead champions accountability, innovation, impact measurement, and continuous improvement. Additionally, the Lead manages enterprise wide risk, including operational, financial, and compliance risks.

Required Qualifications and Experience

A Master’s degree in Public Health, Business Administration, International Development, or a related field is required. The role requires a minimum of ten to twelve years of progressive leadership experience in program operations, preferably across multi donor health portfolios. Also, at least five years in senior management leading multi disciplinary teams and complex projects is needed. Candidates must demonstrate strong financial management, compliance, and risk oversight experience. They must also have a strong understanding of Nigeria’s health system and donor landscape. This includes partners such as The Global Fund, USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and UNICEF.

Competencies

The ideal candidate will have significant experience managing donor funded health projects, strong leadership and people management skills, conflict management and negotiation experience, and the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the role requires fluency in written and spoken English and strong analytical skills for interpreting financial and statistical data. The candidate must demonstrate a track record of delivering results and impact. They also need proven experience in external relations, fundraising, and strategic communication.
