DEVATOP is a youth‑centred organisation committed to advancing human rights, youth empowerment and community development. We are recruiting a motivated Business Development Officer to lead fundraising, partnership development and support the launch of the TALKAM Human Rights Supporters Program.
Role summary
The Business Development Officer will design and implement fundraising and partnership strategies, cultivate donor and partner relationships, write competitive proposals, and coordinate activities to ensure successful launch and scale‑up of the TALKAM program. This role requires a proactive, results‑oriented professional who can translate program goals into funding opportunities and sustainable partnerships.
Key responsibilities
– Lead development and implementation of fundraising strategies (grants, institutional donors, corporate partnerships and other revenue streams).
– Research and identify funding opportunities and strategic partners aligned with DEVATOP’s mission.
– Prepare high‑quality concept notes, proposals, budgets and donor reports.
– Coordinate submissions and ensure timely compliance with donor requirements.
– Manage and nurture relationships with existing and prospective partners and donors.
– Support the design and operational launch of the TALKAM Human Rights Supporters Program, including stakeholder engagement and partnership mobilisation.
– Track fundraising performance, maintain donor databases, and produce regular progress reports.
– Work closely with programs, finance and communications teams to ensure alignment and effective grant implementation.
Qualifications and skills
– Minimum: HND or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent proposal writing ability.
– Demonstrable interest in human rights, youth programming or related sectors.
– Organised, self‑motivated and able to meet deadlines.
– Experience with donor relations, grant applications or partnership development is an advantage.
– Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
