Impact Evaluation Training and Matchmaking Workshop for African

Researchers and Policymakers

23–26 March 2026 | Accra, Ghana

The African Centre for Development Impact (ACDI) is pleased to announce its Impact Evaluation Training

and Matchmaking Programme for researchers and policymakers across the continent.

The week-long training and matchmaking will take place in Accra, Ghana, from 23–26 March 2026. It is

designed to strengthen the capacity of African evaluators, researchers and policymakers in the generation,

interpretation, and application of rigorous evidence to support effective public policy and development

programming.

The programme is designed to target highly motivated researchers and policymakers seeking to influence

decision-making through credible, demand-driven impact evaluation and collaborative research.

Programme Overview

The programme will be delivered in English and French and will adopt a practical, hands-on approach. It

is structured to prepare participants to design impact evaluation studies addressing priority government

interventions.

Three days of intensive training in impact evaluation methods

One day of structured matchmaking between researchers and policymakers

During the matchmaking session, policymakers will present priority policy interventions and evidence gaps.

Researchers and policymakers will then form joint research teams to co-create a design and an approach

to assess the impact of the intervention to address real life policy needs.

Post-Programme Support

Following the training and matchmaking event:

A call will be placed for research teams to develop full proposals based on the priorities presented

by the policymakers during the matchmaking.

ACDI will provide technical guidance during proposal development and study design.

The proposals will undergo independent review and select teams will be considered for funding

support.

Research teams will be supported to disseminate findings, present results on major platforms, and

develop manuscripts for publication.

Course Content

The programme will combine lectures, panel discussions, case studies, and group work. Key topics include:
