Objectives
The role involves training and supporting public sector providers across assigned locations to deliver family planning services especially long acting reversible contraceptions so that women in Nigeria have access to high quality options. The officer will also support facility management client safety satisfaction demand creation data reporting and stakeholder engagement.
Core Responsibilities
The officer will ensure effective training and supervision of providers focusing on quality assurance. They will maintain provider competency in counselling infection prevention emergency preparedness and service delivery. Responsibilities include supporting advocacy client mobilization and external relations ensuring adequate supply of commodities and equipment and managing facilities. The role requires strict adherence to data reporting guidelines timely incident reporting and implementation of quality audits in collaboration with regional teams.
Training and Supportive Supervision
Ensure all providers maintain competency throughout the year. Conduct regular supervision mentoring and coaching. Maintain supervision records and follow up on action plans. Keep updated training databases and carry out training needs assessments. Support preparation of monthly and quarterly reports. Ensure facilities comply with national and organisational quality standards. Lead performance review meetings and document best practices. Support logistics for clinical trainings.
Supply and Facility Management
Ensure availability of commodities and prevent stockouts. Manage training supplies according to guidelines. Ensure availability of clinical manuals and job aids. Support referral systems and incident reporting. Maintain infection prevention standards and ensure no expired stock is in facilities.
Advocacy Client Mobilization and External Relations
Work with government partners and stakeholders to achieve project goals. Represent MSI at state level meetings. Maintain strong relationships with state ministries and partners. Ensure visibility of MSI in the state. Support demand creation strategies and community mobilization activities.
Data Reporting and Management
Ensure all service data is collected and entered into ORION by 3rd of each new month. Validate and review data for accuracy completeness and consistency. Archive all reports properly. Participate in data review and correction between 2nd and 5th of each month. Train providers on data tools and ensure compliance. Conduct performance reviews and submit integrated monthly reports.
Leadership
Demonstrate commitment to organisational goals. Maintain strong communication with team members. Promote a positive work environment within the state team.
Other Duties
Carry out additional responsibilities assigned by the line manager or Regional Clinical Quality Advisor.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must be a Medical Doctor Registered Nurse Midwife or have a related medical science qualification. Candidates should have strong knowledge of cultural and social contexts in Nigeria and experience in international health and development. Excellent communication presentation and interpersonal skills are required. Technical expertise in long acting reversible contraception including IUD and implant insertion and removal is essential. Experience in training and certifying healthcare providers in family planning methods is required. Experience working with NGOs and donor funded projects such as DFID USAID or Gates is an advantage. Candidates should have experience managing facilities clients and teams and be willing to travel frequently. Basic computer skills are required. Familiarity with the intervention states is an added advantage.
