ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is an international humanitarian and development organisation working to serve poor and vulnerable communities.
The organisation is seeking a qualified and experienced Project Officer – Infrastructure to support the implementation of the infrastructure component of its STaR Project in Nigeria.
The successful candidate will coordinate infrastructure project activities, provide technical guidance, monitor implementation and ensure compliance with project quality standards, donor requirements and established procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate and support infrastructure and Environmental, Social, Health and Safety (ESHS) activities in line with approved project plans.
- Monitor project implementation, identify challenges and recommend necessary adjustments.
- Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, NGOs, implementing partners and community stakeholders.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure quality standards and timely execution of infrastructure activities.
- Monitor project resources, budgets and expenditure in collaboration with implementing partners.
- Prepare technical designs, structural drawings, infrastructure plans and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
- Develop indicative budgets for proposed infrastructure projects.
- Support the design and implementation of Cash-for-Work (CFW) activities.
- Coordinate the identification and training of skilled and unskilled community beneficiaries.
- Support project monitoring, evaluation, accountability and reporting activities.
- Identify capacity-building needs and provide technical support to implementing partners.
- Maintain project documentation and contribute to case studies and reports on successful practices.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building or Construction Management.
- Minimum of five years’ experience supporting development or humanitarian projects.
- At least three years of professional experience in project support, preferably in construction or infrastructure management.
- Experience implementing infrastructure or community infrastructure projects with NGOs or development organisations.
- Proficiency in English and Hausa.
- Experience in participatory planning, community engagement and project monitoring.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Practical experience in construction designs, structural drawings and Bills of Quantities.
- Familiarity with engineering software such as AutoCAD, EPANET and Autodesk Revit is an advantage.
- Knowledge of GIS, GPS technology and CommCare is an added advantage.
- Registration with relevant professional bodies such as COREN, NSE, NIA, ARCON or COBON is an advantage.
- Strong communication, analytical, relationship management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with diverse teams.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT
The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel up to 75% of the time to project locations across Adamawa State.
