ABOUT THE ROLE
The successful candidate will support and strengthen IOM Nigeria’s private sector engagement portfolio under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Head of Programme Coordination and Innovation.
The role will focus on private sector outreach, partnership development, resource mobilization, programme development, corporate engagement, due diligence and strengthening relationships with private sector stakeholders at national, regional and continental levels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
PRIVATE SECTOR ENGAGEMENT
Support implementation of IOM Nigeria’s Private Sector Engagement Strategy through targeted outreach and engagement with companies, foundations, chambers and corporate networks.
Map private sector stakeholders and maintain an updated database to identify partnership, CSR, visibility and fundraising opportunities.
Engage with diaspora networks, government ministries, private sector organisations, civil society organisations and international financial institutions.
Identify private sector institutions relevant to priority areas such as climate action, youth employment and regular migration pathways.
Support relationships with international financial institutions to explore funding and programme opportunities.
PROGRAMME AND PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Identify and develop private sector and IFI programme opportunities.
Support research, partner profiling and preparation of guidance notes.
Assist programme units in developing strategic partnerships and networking opportunities.
Develop value propositions that align private sector CSR priorities with IOM programmes.
Support the development of scalable partnership models and innovative initiatives that strengthen private sector participation in migration governance.
KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING
Maintain accurate records of private sector, diaspora and IFI engagements.
Prepare reports, briefing notes, presentations, outreach packages and corporate communication materials.
Document best practices and lessons learned.
Contribute to knowledge sharing within the Programme Coordination and Innovation and Private Sector Partnerships teams.
COMPLIANCE AND DUE DILIGENCE
Support due diligence, legal vetting and contractual processes for private sector partnerships.
Coordinate with relevant IOM units on risk management, compliance and contractual agreements.
Support adherence to IOM private sector partnership policies, ethical screening and internal controls.
Ensure private sector engagement aligns with IOM Nigeria’s resource mobilization objectives and the Nigeria UNSDCF.
COORDINATION AND REPRESENTATION
Represent IOM at corporate forums, CSR events, stakeholder meetings and private sector platforms.
Coordinate with government institutions, private associations and development partners.
Support regional private sector engagement activities across West Africa.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants should have either:
A Master’s degree in International Relations, International Development, Political or Social Sciences, Migration Studies, Law or a related field, with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
OR
A Bachelor’s degree in the above fields, with at least 7 years of relevant professional experience.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Experience in private sector engagement, CSR initiatives, partnership development or corporate fundraising.
Experience providing technical support or guidance on private sector engagement in development or humanitarian settings.
Experience mapping corporate actors, conducting outreach, facilitating partnerships and managing donor relationships.
Experience in programme development, proposal writing or resource mobilization is an advantage.
KEY SKILLS
Strong communication, writing and organisational skills.
Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation concepts and approaches.
Experience writing donor reports in humanitarian or development settings.
Knowledge of Results-Based Management and strategic planning approaches.
Strong analytical and planning skills.
Ability to establish relationships with government authorities, national and international institutions and NGOs.
Ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
Strong confidentiality, initiative, judgement and problem-solving skills.
Computer literacy, including database applications.
LANGUAGE
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required.
Language proficiency may be assessed through written and/or oral assessments during recruitment.
