Project Overview
APADE, in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP) and Mastercard Foundation, is implementing a project in Northeast Nigeria (Adamawa State).
Project Goal:
Strengthen local food systems and create employment opportunities for young women and men through inclusive agribusiness value chains.
Job Purpose
The Livelihood Officer will support the design and implementation of livelihood programs aimed at improving the economic conditions of vulnerable populations across selected LGAs in Adamawa State.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation
- Support community sensitization and beneficiary targeting/registration
- Participate in field assessments and identify viable business opportunities
- Conduct market assessments and identify linkage opportunities
- Ensure proper distribution of non-food items (NFIs)
- Support setup of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs)
- Organize innovation challenge activities with MSMEs Officer
Coordination & Engagement
- Collaborate with local authorities, partners, and community leaders
- Work closely with Business Development Volunteers (BDVs)
- Coordinate with MEAL team on participant monitoring and selection
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily and weekly reports
- Document assessment findings and program updates
- Maintain proper filing and monitoring tools
- Report challenges, risks, and recommendations
Community & Protection Integration
- Apply gender sensitivity and protection mainstreaming
- Promote community participation and inclusion
- Ensure safeguarding and adherence to PSEA policies
Monitoring & Accountability
- Track progress of assigned tasks
- Collect and report community feedback
- Maintain transparency and accountability in program delivery
- Escalate issues related to safety, programming, or operations
Capacity Building
- Promote teamwork and a respectful work environment
- Support staff development and performance improvement
- Identify training needs and contribute to capacity-building plans
- Encourage inclusive decision-making

Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Agriculture
- Development Studies
- Social Sciences
- Economics
- Or related field
Professional Experience
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in NGOs/INGOs
- Experience in:
- Livelihood programs
- Youth employment
- Agribusiness
- Humanitarian/development projects (advantage)
Skills & Competencies
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Problem-solving and proactive mindset
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Knowledge of local languages (advantage)
