The organisation works across the agriculture value chain through community-led, community-driven and community-sustained livelihood programmes, with a focus on smallholder farmers and lasting economic opportunities.

JOB SUMMARY

The MEL Senior Officer will provide leadership for high-quality monitoring, evaluation, accountability, learning and documentation of project activities, results and programme quality.

The position will work closely with technical programme teams and report to the Managing Director. The successful candidate will help ensure that projects document progress, achieve their objectives and provide accurate and timely reports to donors and relevant Government of Nigeria entities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Lead internal project evaluation processes, including annual surveys and final evaluations.
  2. Develop and manage effective monitoring systems, including training, mentoring and on-the-job support for project M&E staff.
  3. Liaise with donor-funded M&E service providers to ensure quality inputs into donor information systems and maintain data quality.
  4. Lead routine data analysis and work with technical programme teams to identify and address issues promptly.
  5. Support knowledge management by documenting project processes, successes, lessons learned and best practices.
  6. Manage monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities under the award.
  7. Develop and manage the project Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning MEL Plan.
  8. Develop and maintain systems for collecting and analysing information on programme inputs, outputs, outcomes and impact.
  9. Support data-driven decision-making and ensure M&E findings are integrated into programme implementation.
  10. Perform other duties assigned by the Chief of Party.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  1. University degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Public Health, Development Economics or a related discipline.
  2. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  3. Minimum 7 years of experience in the development or humanitarian sector, or private sector, preferably in Northeast Nigeria.
  4. Strong technical experience in monitoring, evaluation and research.
  5. Experience with multi-sectoral and multi-donor funded programmes.
  6. Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
  7. Proven ability to develop monitoring plans, data collection systems and information management processes.
  8. Experience with databases, data analysis and performance monitoring.
  9. Demonstrated ability to train and build the capacity of others.
  10. Comprehensive understanding of humanitarian accountability principles and their practical application.
  11. Strong planning, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  12. Excellent analytical, presentation and reporting skills.
  13. Strong data management and analysis skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  14. Experience using at least one of the following: Tableau, SPSS, STATA or KoboToolbox.
